The curriculum used at Westhill refl ects
the most contemporary educational practices in the United States. Recognized by both our accrediting agencies: Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (SACS and TAAPS) English subjects include language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art,
music, physical education and computers.

Students participating in the International program spend half their day in the American Core classroom setting, where they study the basic curriculum for their grade level.

 

Elementary

 

 

In Language Arts, listening, speaking, reading, spelling, writing, and grammar are the main content areas. Mathematics covers concepts in number basic operations, problem-solving, measurement, geometry, graphing, and probability and statistics. For Science the main strands are life science, physical science, earth science, and the human body. Social Studies covers themes in personal, social, and civic responsibilities, economic systems, U.S. and world history, political systems, geography, and factors affecting human behavior.

U.S. PROGRAM
The U.S. program is designed for children interested in English only instruction and is designed for nonspeaking Spanish families as well as short-term residents of Mexico.


INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM
Children whose parents have chosen the International Program study the American Core Program for half of the day, receiving the basic American curriculum for their grade level. The second half of the day is dedicated to studying the Spanish curriculum of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP). The subjects offered in the S.E.P. program are language, mathematics, science, history, geography and civic education.


CHARACTER EDUCATION
Education for character has its focus on respect and responsibility. Within these two areas students are introduced to the values needed to be a contributing member of society.
